A Portrait of Your Spirit

What would you rather leave your grandchildren, a portrait of your face of a portrait of your spirit? I think a portrait of your spirit is so much more important. You didn't get to pick your face, but you did get to shape your spirit. Your spirit tells the real story of who you are, what you believed in, strived for and what you valued. Your spirit tells stories.
The picture above is of Ralph Waldo Emerson. The words below are from Emerson.
"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of the intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch,or a redeemed social condition; to know that one life has breathed easier because you lived here. This is to have succeeded."
What helps you more, the picture or the words?
